Conservation Division
Mission
The Conservation Department is a division of the Methuen Department of Economic and Community Development. The Conservation Commission has the responsibility of protecting the interests of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, MGL Chapter 131, s40 and the Methuen Wetlands Protection Ordinance, Chapter 12, M.C.M. These interests are: the protection of public and private water supply, flood control, wildlife habitat, storm damage prevention, prevention of pollution, land containing shellfish and fisheries. The local ordinance also protects the interests of recreation, water recharge areas, wildlife, erosion control, floodplains and aesthetics.
Boat Ramp Closed for the Season: The Methuen Riverside Drive Boat Ramp is Closed for the offseason as of Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Conditions permitting, the ramp will reopen April 2024. For questions, you can call the Methuen Conservation Department, during normal business hours: Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4:30pm and Friday from 8am to noon at 978-983-8650. All other times, you can call the Methuen Police Business Line at 978-983-8575.
